Position Overview:We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting an inclusive learning environment, supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with classroom teachers to design and implement inclusive strategies that meet the diverse learning needs of students with SEN.- Provide differentiated instruction and support to individuals or small groups of students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.- Conduct assessments to identify students with SEN and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SEN team and parents.- Work closely with parents, teachers, and external specialists to create a collaborative support network for students with SEN.- Implement evidence-based interventions and accommodations to address diverse learning needs.- Stay updated on best practices, research, and advancements in the field of special education and inclusion.- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that celebrates diversity and promotes a sense of belonging for all students.
§ Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
§ Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up to date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
§ Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilise appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
§ Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans etc.
§ Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
§ Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teaching strategies that meet student needs and abilities eg late-entering students, ESL, low academic ability, gifted and talented etc.
§ Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academic development, progress and attainment of students and use assessment to ensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
§ Display competence in using media and technology in the classroom.
§ Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
§ Communicate with persons outside the school where appropriate (e.g. Ministry of Education officials).
§ Participate in appraisal and Performance Management procedures and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
§ Work alongside colleagues on the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, courses of study and pastoral arrangements.
§ Participate in, and lead where appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes in the school. Promote good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, materials and experiences.
§ Monitor and supervise safe and appropriate student behavior. Plan and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior.
§ Model and encourage cultural awareness and understanding and promote a love of learning.
§ Assist in the planning and organising of school events and functions (e.g. inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days etc).
§ Communicate and meet with parents regularly promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents regularly informed of students’ progress while respecting the confidentiality of student-related information
§ Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
§ Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
§ Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors.
§ Responsible for administrative tasks: Registration of students attendance checking students’ organizers, collation of statistics etc. when requested.
§ Supervising classes and students in cover arrangements.
§ Participating in Examination invigilation duties.
§ Undertake professional duties and organizational tasks as reasonable delegated by the Principal.
Identification of students based on Psychometric assessment, Case history, Baseline checklist and observation
Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
Help teachers to prepare ILP, if required
Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities.
To ensure that curricula and programs address the developmental and educational needs of students.
Regularly update and follow up on the IEPs.
Write case records on each counselling session, and maintain them securely.
Speaking with teachers and parents to evaluate a student's individual strengths or special needs.
Establish procedures and time frames to provide students with academic, personal, social, emotional and psychological counseling.
Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress
Observing children during classroom and recess time.
To ensure that students have access to the resources necessary for academic and social development.
Facilitate students’ satisfactory adjustments to the school.
Establish procedures for securing external assistance for students with personal problems and emotional needs.
Maintain student records on progress, achievements, activities, and interests.
Discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, and administrators
Establish systems to notify parents promptly about any difficulties a student may encounter in class, school work, or any behavioral problems that may arise.
Work with the academic and support staff to encourage and promote positive behaviors in the short and long term whilst at School, and for their future benefit.
Provide support and supervision for members of the teaching staff.
Provide training, discussion and consultancy to the wider community of the school, if considered appropriate.
Attend staff briefing by senior leadership team and attend regular line management and professional supervision by Head of counselling.
Maintain ongoing professional development.
Demonstrate a commitment to improving and developing the academy’s processes and facilities.
Establish proactive guidelines and procedures to deal with bullying.
Carry out such duties that may be reasonably required by your line manager

The group of GEMS Wellington schools in Dubai and Qatar is looking to appoint an inspiring and passionate individual to become the cluster’s strategic lead for the provision of Music. The Director of Music position is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic leader with previous experience and responsibility for the leadership and management of at least one aspect of the Music curriculum and performance development.
